Betsy Coats is a painter and visionary of art based in Beverly Hills, Michigan. Her art features a range of settings, including landscapes, florals, God’s creatures, and beautiful faces (her grandchildren).

My passion for art has been a part of who I am.

I think I always had a painting in my head. I have been drawn to the sense of color and design, even from early years as I watched my Mom use her giftedness with wardrobes, floral, and home decor. Like my Mom, I had an attraction to beauty. I enjoyed the challenge of finding ways to create through teaching, running a business, or parenting three daughters.

It wasn’t until retirement though that I actually picked up a paintbrush. My first classes and paintings were done in acrylic, mostly through the outstanding instructors at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center (BBAC) here in Michigan. The inspiration is limitless as my focus has changed and I see the world through the eyes of a painter. I’m so thankful to God that I’m able to experience His Beauty.
